There are a lot of rumors circling around the upcoming “Pushing Daisies” comic book, but how does this sound: a musical comic? Bryan Fuller mentioned to Entertainment Weekly that it may very well be released with a score. His exact words are below:

Question: Is there any news at all about the Pushing Daisies comic books? — Eric

Ausiello: Here’s an update from Bryan Fuller himself: “Issue number 1 will hopefully be out in early 2011, issue number 2 is being colored as we speak, and issue number 3 is being written. Our Emmy-award-winning composer Jim Dooley and I have been talking about giving the audience a multimedia experience with the comic—specifically a score. We have no idea whether we can actually afford to do an actual Pushing Daisies comic soundtrack (because the cast has agreed to sing songs and those licensing fees are expensive), but Jim has already started composing musical cues that we will either release officially or stream for freesies online when the comic book is published. I’ve already heard the track for Lee Pace’s cover ditty and it’s fantastic.”

Warner Bros. to make live-action ‘Pinocchio’

Warner Bros. is looking to bring “Pinocchio” to life in a live-action feature through producer Dan Jinks with Bryan Fuller tapped to script.

Nick Nantell, vice president of development at the Dan Jinks Co., will be involved in a producing capacity in “Pinocchio.”

Jinks told Daily Variety that he was inspired by Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” to begin work on a new version of “Pinocchio.” “I think we’ve found a fresh approach that’s going to be very entertaining,” he added.

“Pinocchio is one of the most emotional fairy tales. I’m over the moon at the opportunity to play with all the characters in this toy box with a large-scale re-telling,” Fuller said. “It’s exactly why I love writing.”

Will NBC’s ‘Munsters’ reboot scare up Kristen Bell?

Talk about putting the Vania before the Transyl: NBC and Pushing Daisies mastermind Bryan Fuller are in the very early stages of developing a reboot of the creepshow classic The Munsters, but there’s already a fervent fan movement under way to get Kristen Bell cast as Marilyn. And one of those fans is Fuller himself!

“Are you kidding me?” he enthuses of the Veronica Mars powerhouse. “Kristen would be perfect.”

Coincidentally, Fuller says the Munster clan’s “plain” cousin will be much more pivotal than she was in the ’60s original. “She is our eyes into the world,” he explains, “in the sense that we all can relate to our families exhibiting some level of monstrous behavior.” (Also playing a larger role: Eddie’s pet dragon, Spot.)

Fuller plans to fashion his Munsters update as a cross between Modern Family and True Blood. “This version has teeth and isn’t afraid to use them,” he says with a laugh. “For example, the story begins when young Eddie unexpectedly manifests as a werewolf on a scout camping trip and inadvertently eats two of his fellow scouts.” Sounds yummy!

Thoughts? Do you agree that the role of Marilyn has my beloved KB written all over it? Weigh in below!

NBC and Bryan Fuller remaking “The Munsters”

According to Bryan Fuller himself, it was a show he used to watch often as a kid. Now, it appears he might be creating his own version of “The Munsters,” to possibly air on NBC.

Consider this an early Halloween present from me to you: Pushing Daisies mastermind Bryan Fuller is toiling away on a modern-day reboot of the creepshow classic The Munsters!

So far, NBC, with whom Fuller has an overall deal, has ordered only a pilot. But since the potential series is being described to me as “Modern Family meets True Blood,” I have a good feeling about it.

Not only that, but rumor has it no less than Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy) is eyeing a behind-the-scenes role in the project.

So, um, once you’ve picked your jaw up off the floor, let’s see the synonyms for “amazing” you come up with to describe the very notion of this show below.

Fuller, Singer sell NBC on Burroughs

“Pushing Daisies” might be over on TV, but that doesn’t mean Bryan Fuller is. It’s just been announced that he’s working on two pilots for NBC — one based on an Augusten Bourroughs book (Sellevision) and the other about a no-kill animal shelter. For more information, read on:

Bryan Fuller and Bryan Singer are partnering to adapt the Augusten Burroughs book “Sellevision” for NBC.

Fuller also has a second script — his first stab at a half-hour comedy — in the works at the Peacock.

“Sellevision” revolves around the inner workings at a fictional home shopping channel. The hourlong comedy-drama came about when both Fuller and Singer independently contacted former HSN topper Mark Bozek, who resigned in 2002 to become a film and TV producer, about collaborating on a TV project.

Bozek had originally planned to direct a feature version of “Sellevision,” to be toplined by Kristin Davis and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, but the movie never got off the ground. That’s when it was reimagined as a TV series.

Universal Media Studios is producing the project; Fuller, Singer, Bozek and Russell Nuce will exec produce, while Jason Taylor is a producer.
