It looks like Bryan has yet another project up his sleeves, this time a television series focusing on the Hannibal Lecter franchise. Deadline is reporting that Gaumont (a French film studio) is branching and bringing a production company to the United States, where they’ll develop new comedy and drama television programs.

Under this new title – Gaumont International Television – are already two shows: “Madame Tussaud,” a six-hour miniseries written by Michael Hirt (“The Tudors”), and… “Hannibal,” a one-hour drama series written by none other than Bryan Fuller! Hopefully we’ll see this new project come to fruition. In the meantime, check out a summary of its premise below:

Hannibal will explore the early relationship of Thomas Harris’ signature character, renowned psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lector, and his patient, a young FBI criminal profiler named Will Graham, who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers. Fuller is executive producing with Martha De Laurentiis who has produced three Hannibal Lector features: Hannibal, Red Dragon, and Hannibal Rising.

  1. So far, fan reaction to this news has been mixed, I think because people think whimsy is Fuller’s major forte. They forget that both Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies had a rather ghoulish sense of humour! Hoping to see this on the small screen soon.
